Weekend Wrap-up: Parties, Parties and more Parties

This weekend was one big party and it is about time. Friday night was a potluck with the ladies that come to card class and scrapbook class every week with my mom and I at my mom's house. It was small but it was nice. We had a good time and were able to just hang out and enjoy the evening.

Saturday we went to a Christmas party at our friends' Brian and Cindy's house. It was crazy. They had over 60 people in their house. It was really fun though. We ate and ate and ate, and talked and laughed. After everyone left and it was just us there we watched the Dark Knight (a good Christmas movie?)

Sunday was another party for me. The Steeler's won their game and are clinched the division title! Not everyone threw a party for this one, but over at our house we were celebrating!!!!

Mission Accomplished

I won't give away the movie in case some people haven't seen it... I hate when that happens to me... but I will say that my mission for the weekend has been accomplished. We went to the first showing this morning and saw the movie that I have been waiting to see.

Dan is such a good sport too. He worked from 5:30am yesterday morning until about 4 something last night... He was suppose to come home and take a nap but of course did not! Then he had to go to work last night. He left the house again at about 9:45pm and did not get home until around 9:30am. He was planning on going to sleep when he got home but said he would take me to see Twilight instead. What a great husband he is huh? I love him!

The movie was good. I don't know that it was my all time favorite movie (that would be hard) but I did enjoy it and I do hope that they make the next ones to go along with the books. I did believe the actors as Edward, Bella and Jacob for sure. Carlisle was a little hard for me to fully believe. As a whole I thought it was good though and it makes me what to pick up the books and starting reading all over again!!!

Date Night

Last night we had a date night and went to see FOREVER STRONG, the new movie out that is slightly LDS related. It is about the Highland rugby team. It was a good movie with a good moral meaning behind it. Not totally LDS but worth seeing still the same.

It was fun to go and also fun to actually be able to see this kind of movie. Usually Utah and Mesa are the places that get these kinds of movies so it was great that Nevada actually got this movie and not only did Nevada get this movie but it was actually at my dad's theater so we got to see if for free!!! What a great date night.

Grab some Popcorn!

Okay... so Kami, over at the Biggie Blog, had a fun idea. Her family usually gets together and has a movie night, showing clips of their favorite movies, and she decided it would be fun to do it over the "blogosphere". I wanted to play along and so here are some of my favs!

1. The Notebook: This is one of my all-time favorite movies... I loved this mix of scenes with the music of Chris Daughtry... Great combo!

2. DIRTY DANCING: Another great movie. I love the feeling of a care-free summer and all of the great songs and dancing of course. And I love a happy ending too.

3. BETTER OFF DEAD: A great little 80's comedy. The whole movie is hilarious and I love it so much that I can't stand to part with my VHS of it... yes, I said VHS.

Giving me hope for my Martian Child

We watched this sweet movie "Martian Child" and couldn't help but feel that someone is trying to tell us something.
You know when things are happening in your life you become acutely aware of things around you and that is happening to us for sure right now. I don't know if it is coincidence or what but there seems to be a lot in our lives right now that involving ADOPTION. Besides us working with the activities committee with FSA (families supporting adoption - with the LDS adoption agency), we have a family of four kids who moved into our ward who are all adopted, and there are also lot of things out in the media as well. The fabulous movie "Juno" came out and I loved it, and it got great reviews too. Then we go to rent a movie and the only things I really had heard about this movie was that it was about a kid who thinks he is from Mars, and that it has one of my favorite actresses in it, Amanda Peet, so that is why we got it. I had really no idea that he was trying to adopt this little boy. Although he is trying to adopt an older son while we are adopting an infant. He has much more patience and understanding than I could ever have. The story ends happily ever after and that gave me hope once again that we too will have our own happily ever after one day too. (sorry if I ruined it for anyone!) And I am also reading this book right now, "The Wednesday Letters", and it one of the family members is trying to adopt as well.
I just think that the more aware of our surroundings and our situations we are the more that these things tend to be present in our lives. I think it is great right now because it helps me to not feel like such an OUTSIDER and not to feel so alone in my situation. I just find it odd because before we were in this place I don't think I would have picked up on these subtle things and noticed them nearly the way I do now. Adoption is a much more common thing in our society and becoming more and more "accepted" and I am a full supporter of that, as long as it is done with love and compassion.

BREAKING NEWS!

A fourth book is on it's way! That's right you heard me. This summer Stephanie Meyer is releasing another book in the Twilight series and it will be out on August 2nd.

Bigger news that that. I have found out information about the upcoming movie they are making about the books. I am so excited I can hardly contain myself.

Take a look here if you want a little more info but I will just give you a quick run down.

Robert Pattinson as Edward

Peter Facinelli as Carlisle

Nikki Reed as Rosalie

Kristen Stewart as Bella

Kellan Lutz as Emmett

Jackson Rathborne as Jasper

Elizabeth Reaser as Esme

Ashley Greene as Alice

Now the only person we have to wonder about is Jacob, no word on him yet!

So is this what you thought they all looked like or what? I totally pictured Carlisle older. I mean I know they don't age, but he is still the dad after all. Other than that they all look great to me.

This is going to be great and I will be there opening night for sure. Dan will probably hate the movie but who cares!

Before I die

Last night Dan and I went out to dinner (TGI Friday) and then went to a movie. We saw "The Bucket List". It was a sweet movie and kinda funny. It was not my favorite movie ever but it got me thinking. It made me think about how I am spending my life now and whether or not I am making good use of the time that I have here on the earth. They knew when they were going to die (hope I don't spoil the movie if you haven't seen it yet) but most of us don't have any idea. There was a part in the movie where they talk about the conditions of getting into heaven were only two questions: 1. Is my life joyful? and 2. Do I bring joy to others? I hope that I will be able to answer "YES" to both of those questions when my day comes.

The second topic of the movie has to do with doing all that you can in life and living each day to the fullest. That is where the "Bucket List" comes in. The list of things you want to do/accomplish before you "kick the bucket". That part really struck me. There are a ton of things that I want to do and hope I will have the chance to do them. I have made my own list of sorts and hope that I will be able to start crossing things off now and not wait until one day when I am old and gray and look back and think "I wish I would have..." NO REGRETS!

Part of my list:
Eat pizza in Italy
See Big Ben
Run in a marathon (or at least a half marathon)
Go whitewater rafting
Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity

There are lots of big things on my list but also lots of small things... I hope that I will be able to do them all and then start my list over again.
